MISSION
To realize its vision, the School of Criminal Justice is steadfast and devoted to develop and nurture its graduates to become professionally competent, virtuous, productive and well-rounded Criminologists who are expected to deliver efficient and effective public safety services and to commit themselves in the noble duty of serving others in the administration of justice.
GOALS
Guided by its vision and mission, the School of Criminal Justice aims to:
• Provide opportunity, instruction and experience where the students learn the basic knowledge and skills essential in the practice of criminology, crime prevention, law enforcement, crime detection and investigation, forensic sciences, public safety, criminological research, safety or security management, and correctional administration to include custody and rehabilitation of offenders.
•Prepare the students for careers in crime prevention, law enforcement, scientific crime reduction, correctional administration, public safety and allied fields;
•Encourage research and inquiry in the field of criminal justice education to include criminological researches on nature and causes of crimes, treatment or punishment of criminal behavior, victims, and offenders to include deviant behavior;
•Foster higher concept of citizenry and understanding of one’s moral and legal obligation to his fellowmen, community and country;
•Inspire and instill in the students the value of service to God and humanity; and
•Foster the values of leadership, integrity, accountability and responsibility while serving their fellowmen, community and country.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES
Common to the Criminal Justice Education
The minimum standards for the Criminal Justice Education program are expressed in the following minimum set of learning outcomes:
a. Conduct criminological research and further studies
b. Ensure public safety and order maintenance
c. Prevent, suppress and control crime
d. Investigate and detect crime
e. Enforce laws, rules and regulations
f. Protect lives and properties
Specific to the graduates of the BS Criminology Program:
Graduates of the BS Criminology program equipped with relevant knowledge, skills, attitude and values shall be able to:
a. conduct criminological research on crimes, crime causation, victims, and offenders to include deviant behavior;
b. internalize the concepts of human rights and victim welfare
c. demonstrate competence and broad understanding in law enforcement administration, public safety and criminal justice;
d. utilize criminalistics or forensic science in the investigation and detection of crime;
e. apply the principles and jurisprudence of criminal law, evidence and criminal procedure;
f. ensure offenders’ welfare and development for their re-integration to the community.
