MISSION

The Institute of Teacher Education Program of the School of Arts, Sciences and Education is committed to providing quality and transformative teacher education that develops competent, innovative, and socially responsible educators. It aims to cultivate excellence in teaching, research, leadership, and community engagement through learner-centered instruction, ethical practice, and inclusive educational experiences that respond to the needs of society and global education.

VISION

The Institute of Teacher Education Program of the School of Arts, Sciences and Education envisions itself as a premier institution in teacher education, producing highly competent, innovative, and values-driven educators who inspire lifelong learning, promote inclusive and transformative education, and contribute meaningfully to national and global development.

OBJECTIVES

The Teacher Education program aims to:

  • Develop the competencies, skills, and attitudes necessary for professional teachers.
  • Expose pre- service teachers to diverse classroom situations so they will understand fully the nature of the teaching profession and thus commit themselves to integrity and hard work towards excellence in service.
  • Promote national consciousness affecting the country and the world; increase understanding and interest in conflict resolution and peace education towards the enhancement of the pre- service teacher’s social responsibility.
  • Provide venues for the development for the development of students’ research skills.
  • Inculcate among the pre- service teachers the desirable values necessary for professional teachers, modelling the characteristics and traits of a morally upright educator.

PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES

Graduates of the Teacher Education program under the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education are expected to:

  • Demonstrate strong pedagogical content knowledge and teaching competencies aligned with national standards, enabling effective facilitation of learning in diverse classroom settings.
  • Apply appropriate teaching strategies, assessment methods, and learning resources that are responsive to learners’ needs, abilities, and contextual backgrounds.
  • Exhibit reflective and adaptive teaching practice by analyzing classroom experiences, identifying challenges, and continuously improving instructional delivery.
  • Engage in experiential and field-based learning effectively, demonstrating readiness to handle varied classroom environments during pre-service training and practice teaching.
  • Conduct basic educational research using appropriate methodologies to improve teaching practice and contribute to evidence-based decision-making in education.
  • Demonstrate professional ethics, integrity, and commitment to the teaching profession, guided by national standards such as the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST).
  • Promote inclusive education, cultural awareness, and national consciousness, integrating peace education, values formation, and social responsibility in classroom practice.
  • Utilize digital tools and educational technologies responsibly and effectively to enhance teaching, learning, and learner engagement.
