HCC INSTALLS 20 NEW WATER FOUNTAINS ACROSS CAMPUS IN PREPARATION FOR EL NIÑO

Holy Cross Colleges, Inc. (HCCI) continues to strengthen its commitment to student welfare and campus development with the installation of 20 new water fountain units across the campus, providing students with more convenient access to clean drinking water as they go about their daily academic activities.

The initiative is part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to improve campus facilities and create an environment that supports the health, comfort, and overall well-being of the HCC community. By making drinking water more accessible in various areas of the campus, the college aims to encourage students to stay hydrated throughout the day, particularly during classes, extracurricular activities, and other school-related engagements.

Access to clean drinking water is an essential part of maintaining a healthy and productive learning environment. As students spend much of their day attending classes, participating in academic activities, and moving between campus facilities, having accessible water fountains provides a practical way to meet their hydration needs. The installation of these units also reflects the institution’s recognition of the importance of providing facilities that contribute to students’ everyday comfort and well-being.

The addition of the 20 water fountain units is also a timely initiative as the country prepares for the anticipated effects of the El Niño phenomenon. Characterized by warmer temperatures and reduced rainfall in many areas, El Niño can increase the risk of dehydration, particularly among individuals who spend extended periods outdoors or in warm environments. In anticipation of these conditions, HCC continues to take steps to help its community prepare for the challenges associated with rising temperatures.

Alongside the installation of the new water fountains, HCC also implements a regular replacement schedule for water fountain filters based on the water source supplying each building. For buildings that use deep-well water, including the College Building, Junior High School (JHS) Building, and Grade School (GS) Building, filter replacement is scheduled every three months. Meanwhile, buildings supplied by the NAWASA water source, specifically the Learning Resource Center (LRC) and Senior High School (SHS) Building, follow a six-month filter replacement schedule.

This maintenance initiative highlights the institution’s commitment to the proper upkeep of its drinking water facilities. By following a scheduled filter replacement program according to the water source, HCC aims to support the continued functionality of its water fountains and promote access to clean drinking water throughout the campus. Regular maintenance, together with the installation of additional water fountains, forms part of the institution’s broader efforts to provide convenient and well-maintained facilities for students, faculty, and personnel.

The initiative has also been welcomed by the student community, highlighting the importance of accessible drinking water in supporting students’ daily activities and overall well-being. Arol Jedrick M. Valencia, President of the College Student Council, expressed his appreciation for the school’s initiative, emphasizing its significance in promoting proper hydration and preparing students for the challenges of warmer weather.

“It was truly refreshing to have access to a drinking fountain for students, as it helps us stay hydrated, especially during hot days and after engaging in physical activities. This initiative is also a helpful response to the challenges posed by the El Niño phenomenon. I sincerely appreciate the school’s commitment to prioritizing students’ health and well-being by ensuring access to safe and potable drinking water. This initiative demonstrates the school’s dedication to providing a healthy and supportive learning environment for everyone,” Valencia shared.

Valencia’s statement underscores the value of campus improvements that directly respond to students’ needs. By providing more accessible drinking water facilities, HCC reinforces the importance of student-centered initiatives that promote health, comfort, and safety while supporting a more conducive learning environment.

Through these investments, the institution seeks to promote greater awareness of the importance of proper hydration while providing students with more accessible sources of drinking water within the campus. The initiative complements broader efforts to maintain a learning environment where health and safety are considered essential to students’ academic experiences. It also highlights the value of proactive campus improvements and preventive maintenance in responding to the changing needs of the school community and the environmental conditions that may affect daily campus life.

Beyond the installation and maintenance of its water fountains, this development represents HCC’s continuing dedication to investing in facilities that serve the needs of its students. Campus development goes beyond classrooms and academic resources; it also involves providing essential amenities that make the school environment more convenient, supportive, and responsive to the needs of the people who use it every day.

As part of its continuing commitment to quality education and student-centered service, Holy Cross Colleges remains dedicated to creating a campus where students can learn, grow, and participate in school life in an environment that values their welfare. Initiatives such as the installation of these 20 water fountains and the implementation of a regular filter replacement schedule demonstrate how practical improvements and preventive maintenance can contribute to a more comfortable and health-conscious campus community.

With these developments, HCC reaffirms its commitment to putting students’ needs at the forefront of its campus initiatives. As the institution continues to pursue improvements that benefit the entire community, it remains guided by its enduring values of Fides, Caritas, Libertas—Faith, Charity, and Liberty.

Through continued investment in student welfare, campus facilities, and proper maintenance practices, HCC moves forward in building a healthier, safer, and more supportive learning environment for everyone.
